RainTech Roofing, Sheet Metal & Gutters has launched "RainTech Roofing for a Reason", a charitable initiative that installs a free roof for a homeowner in need.

TULSA, Okla. — RainTech Roofing, Sheet Metal & Gutters has launched "RainTech Roofing for a Reason", a charitable initiative that installs a free roof for a homeowner in need.

The first roof installation took place on Tuesday at a residence in Tulsa. The charity focuses on helping people and families facing hardships by providing essential roofing at no cost.

"We set that up to be able to help people in need in the Tulsa community," says Mike Wells, Vice President of RainTech Roofing. "We felt like it was important to give back to Oklahoma and Tulsa and surrounding areas specifically. We've had several people nominate others in their community for a roof, people that are in need that don't have the financial needs to be able to put one on themselves and felt like this was the best way for us to be able to give back."

Wells say they can go to the company's website and nominate friends, family; anybody in need.

"We evaulate each one of those nominees on their own merit, says Wells. "We do like to look for people that have been involved in their community and have given back to their community as well. It's not just a financial-based situation."

Wells says with the first house he also noticed part of the deck has to be replaced. When he got on the roof, he said he almost fell through it.

"We never know what we're getting into. Obviously we look at the house, but we don't actually even get on it. We just take the nominees regardless of the scope of the project. We know they're in need and they're in need for a reason."
